What’s hot in the multifamily industry
With only a few weeks left in 2016, it’s time to start thinking about the new year. Some girls get excited about a new pair of sparkly heels for the big NYE celebration, but we are more jazzed about killer graphic design and apartment trends moving the multifamily industry now and into the New Year.
Ok, so we’ll raise a glass of bubbly (or beer…mmm, beer) and have a good time ringing in the New Year, but we’ll be ready to dive into some exciting new projects for clients in January. As we do, we will be watching out for these hot trends:
Live, work, play
This trend has been hot for awhile now, and it’s not likely to go away anytime soon. People want to live close to where they work, if possible, and they want to be part of a close-knit community.
From fitness facilities to amazing restaurants, renters want amenities close at hand. They also respond to social-building activities, either on-site or sponsored by the property at another location.
While that phrase might seem like an oxymoron, some property developers are striking a balance by offering luxury features in more affordable locations. In pricier urban locations, renters seeking luxury on a budget are likely to trade size and space for location and amenities.
One thing apartment dwellers often miss is an outdoor space where they get a little closer to nature. Properties that feature community gardens and agreements with farm co-ops offer appeal to those renters who want fresh produce and even a little dirt under their fingernails.
Think beyond the fitness center and elliptical machines. While those are still important to many renters, many are seeking a broader scope of wellness features and programs. Yoga and meditation classes, or even circadian rhythm lighting and water purification systems are becoming sought-after amenities.
A place for pets
As more people opt to rent rather than buy, they are seeking a more homey experience in their rental units. For many, that includes a space for Fido or Fluffy. Many apartment communities are looking for ways to become more dog- and cat-friendly by offering per concierge services, dog-walking, on-site dog parks and more.
How trends inform design
In our work, it is important to stay in tune with what renters want, and we translate those desires into compelling design. We help property developers and owners package and market their unique stories and value propositions by creating visuals worth thousands of words.
If your property appeals to luxury-minded millennials, we can help you convey that message with the right graphic design elements. If your community is more down-to-earth and homey, that is a completely different visual story.
By understanding what is driving current renters’ decisions, we can help you breathe new life into your marketing. Design helps connect your potential renters with the lifestyle they have been seeking.
